Harry Lane

Harry Lane (born August 28, 1855 in Corvallis , Oregon , † May 23, 1917 in San Francisco , California ) was an American politician .

Lane studied medicine at Willamette University in Salem . He then became a PhD student at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New York City in New York City . Lane was now working as a doctor in San Francisco. He later returned to Oregon and settled in Portland where he began to practice again. From 1887 to 1891 he was head of the Oregon State Insane Asylum and from 1905 to 1909 Lane held the office of mayor of Portland as the successor to George H. Williams .

He was elected a Democrat in the United States Senate in 1912 , where he represented the state of Oregon from March 4, 1913 until his death in 1917. Lane was buried in Lone Fir Cemetery in Portland.

Harry Lane was the grandson of Joseph Lane .
