Harry Marshall Ward (born March 21, 1854 in Hereford , England; † August 26, 1906 ) was a British botanist who made a name for himself in the field of plant pathology and mycology (fungal science). Its botanical-mycological author's abbreviation is " HMWard ".

Life

Ward became a Fellow of the Linnean Society in 1886 , a year later a Fellow of the Royal Horticultural Society (FRHS) in 1887 and a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS) in 1889 . In 1895 he became professor of botany at Cambridge University after having been awarded the Royal Medal two years earlier in 1893 . He was born with Selina Mary Ward. Kingdon married. Their son was the plant collector Frank Kingdon-Ward (1885-1958). After his wife, the genus Kingdonia is Balf.f. & WWSm. named from the family Circaeasteraceae .

The mushroom genera Wardina G.Arnaud and Wardinella Batt are named after Harry Marshall Ward . & Peres , Wardomyces F.T.Brooks & Hansf. and Wardomycopsis Udagawa & Furuya .
