Hartmut Felsch

Hartmut Felsch (* 17th February 1941 in Ziegelscheune ) was a German football player in the highest GDR football class league where he played for 1. FC Union Berlin. With him he won the GDR Cup in 1968 .

Athletic career

Hartmut Felsch's football career began in 1952 with the company sports association in Kyritz, Brandenburg . There he played from 1961 in the fourth and third-rate district league team . Between 1963 and 1965 he had to do his military service and during this time he played for the army sports club Vorwärts Neubrandenburg . He then played in the 1965/1966 season in the reserve team of SC Dynamo Berlin and then returned to Kyritz.

At the beginning of the 1966/67 season, the 25-year-old Felsch joined the first division promoted 1. FC Union Berlin . There the 1.79 m tall trained striker was used for the first time in a competitive game on August 21, 1966 on the 4th matchday in the encounter 1. FC Union Berlin - Dynamo Dresden (2-2). By the end of the season he was used in eight other point games. In the following season he made his breakthrough as a regular player with 18 league games, and he was in the winning team of the GDR Cup final in 1968. Union had surprisingly beaten GDR champions FC Carl Zeiss Jena 2-1, Felsch was left defender on that place. Even later he mostly played in the defense of the Unioner.

Felsch was active for 1. FC Union until 1975. He completed five league seasons and played two years in the GDR league because of the two relegations of Union . In total, he was used for Union in 191 competitive games, including 104 league games.

After his active career, Felsch was an assistant trainer and also worked in the youth sector. When his mother moved to the West in 1982, Felsch had to leave the club, although he had recently taken over the management of the junior league team. He was transferred to the Prenzlauer Berg training center for two years, but was then able to return to Union and worked there until 1992.

In the course of the planned reunification with the western branch of the club, Felsch switched to Union 06 in 1990 with his entire youth team . In 1994 Felsch finally left 1. FC Union and then worked as a trainer at BSV Spindlersfeld , VSG Altglienicke , Sparta Lichtenberg and most recently in 2005 at SV Berliner VG as a trainer.
