Hartmut Semken (born January 14, 1967 in Bremervörde , Lower Saxony ) is a German politician of the Pirate Party and was chairman of the Berlin state association from February to May 2012 .

Semken works as a development and project engineer. He is a founding member of Freedom for Links .

Work in the pirate party

At the 2010.1 federal party conference, Semken ran for deputy chairman and as an assessor. He was clearly defeated in both cases. Semken was elected to the federal arbitration court.

In February 2012, he became the new state chairman of the Pirate Party in Berlin, replacing Gerhard Anger , who had no longer run for this office.

On April 16, 2012, the Federal Arbitration Court of the Pirate Party ruled that a person reported to the Federal Arbitration Court could not be expelled from the party on the basis of alleged Holocaust denial and other statements that were viewed as historical revisionist . This decision was also heavily criticized within the own party and by parts, as well as elected representatives within the Berlin regional association. Semken, on the other hand, initially took the unconvicted person under protection: It was not this who represented the “Nazi problem of the pirates”, but “those who were kicked out and who“ we have to distance ourselves ”- again and again - worshipers”. The last party that was successful with the targeted persecution of people was the NSDAP : "They had a scapegoat for everything." Semken, however, withdrew his remarks after internal and external criticism and demands for resignation and apologized, but refused to resign from.

In an interview with ZDF , Semken said that he was a left-wing extremist “according to the definition of the protection of the constitution” , because he wanted a society that was defined in terms of morality and in which there were no more laws, no police and no public prosecutor's office.

On May 16, 2012, Semken resigned as state chairman after three months. In an e-mail to various party members and the federal chairman Bernd Schlömer , he justified the resignation: “Fact: I lied, an email I wrote from a meeting that I shouldn't have written tried to lie away. "
