Simon Kowalewski (born April 12, 1981 in Schwerte ) is a German politician of the Pirate Party in Berlin .

education and profession

Kowalewski made 2000 its Abitur at the high school edema in Lueneburg and started in the same year with an employment contract with the company IBM and parallel studies in information technology at the Cooperative State University Baden-Wuerttemberg in Stuttgart . He completed his studies in 2003 as a qualified engineer (BA) and works as a freelance electronics developer and information technology administrator. From 2003 to 2005 he worked for iVeins GmbH in Böblingen . From 2005 to 2007 Kowalewski studied information management at the Stuttgart Media University . From 2009 to 2010 he studied law at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) .

From 2010 until the closure in September 2011, he was one of two operators of a vegan organic café with coworking space .

Political career

Kowalewski was already politically active in the PDS , the Violets and the Antifa movement. He was also involved in the DRK and the Chaos Computer Club .

As a member of the Pirate Party, he was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives in 2011 at number 14 on the state list of the Pirate Party in the Berlin House of Representatives and on October 27, 2011 as an assessor in its presidium. He resigned from this office on August 30, 2012. In the pirate faction he was a spokesman for health, women, consumer protection, animal protection and addiction and drug policy. In 2016 he left the House of Representatives.

In September 2016, following the resignation of Bruno Kramm , he took over the provisional chairmanship of the state association of the Pirate Party in Berlin . He was confirmed in office in December 2018.
