Hartwig Kirschner

Hartwig Kirschner (born July 28, 1922 in Königsberg i. Pr. , † January 14, 1995 in Hamburg ) was a German surgeon.

Life

Kirschner was the son of Martin Kirschner , professor of surgery at Albertus University. After the chaos of the war and imprisonment, Hartwig Kirschner passed the state examination at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg in 1948, which made him a doctorate in March 1948. med. PhD. He was a compulsory assistant in Biberach and assistant to the Heidelberg internist Richard Siebeck . From 1949 he spent three years at the hospital in San Antonio, Santo Domingo (province) . Dr. Georg finally got him excited about surgery. After returning to Germany in 1952, Kirschner went to Albert Lezius at the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf . In 1959 he completed his habilitation with his successor Ludwig Zukschwerdt . Since November 1, 1964, he has been the chief surgeon in the old AK Altona , and has played a key role in the planning of the new Altona General Hospital in Hamburg-Othmarschen. In 1965 he was appointed associate professor . Kirschner ensured structured further training and an “excellent working atmosphere”. Ten senior physicians (including Heinz-Jürgen Schröder ) were elected chief physicians, three completed their habilitation. In June 1987, Kirschner retired. For the Association of Northwest German Surgeons he was chairman of the 102nd and 134th meetings in 1968 and 1984.
