Haus Neuland places a special focus on youth media education. As part of the JuMP (youth, media, participation) project, Haus Neuland has set up its own media center.

In addition to its own events, Haus Neuland is also open to external conferences, seminars and other encounters.

history

From the end of the 1920s, the first tent camps of the falcons and the socialist youth workers took place in the Bielefeld Senneland landscape . In 1932 a large youth camp based on the principle of the Socialist Children's Republic ( Kurt Löwenstein ) was organized on the present site. The camp was divided into two villages, one of which was called “Neuland”. The site and the barracks built on it were withdrawn from the Nazis' access in 1933 by means of a bogus lease agreement. During the Nazi era, the activists of the Reichsarbeitsgemeinschaft der Kinderfreunde and the Socialist Workers' Youth withdrew and organized illegal meetings.

From 1947 the first tent camps were held after the war. Elfriede Eilers was present at the laying of the foundation stone of the "Purple House" and played a key role in the further development of Haus Neuland. The Lila Haus was inaugurated in 1949 . It is considered the parent company of Haus Neuland and is now operated as a self-catering establishment.

Today's Red House and today's Blue Hall were inaugurated as youth education and leisure facilities. They were financed with a grant from the government under the Social Democratic Prime Minister Fritz Steinhoff . This went back to the initiative of the SPD district chairman Emil Groß , who was also the publisher of the Free Press . The sponsor of this house was the association Kinderfreunde, whose first chairman in turn was Emil Groß.

Haus Neuland now consists of a large ensemble of buildings. The Yellow House , the Green House and the Red House together with an entrance area and a conference hall of around 300 m² form today's seminar and conference center. With 20 seminar rooms, around 187 regular beds and a cafeteria, Haus Neuland can accommodate several seminar groups in parallel and grades at the same time.
