House Rosenstrasse 18 (Weißenburg)
The house at Rosenstrasse 18 is a town house in the listed old town of Weißenburg in Bavaria in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . The building is opposite the St. Andrew's Church . It is the fifth oldest town house in Weißenburg. Only the house at Luitpoldstrasse 16 , the house at Judengasse 14 , the house at Marktplatz 3 and the house at Rosenstrasse 10 are even older . The building is registered under the monument number D-5-77-177-379 as an architectural monument in the Bavarian monument list.
The three-storey, massive, gable roof structure is a corner building on Rosenstrasse / Ellinger Strasse and has three gable storeys. The walls are made of limestone . The huge attic served as a granary . The structure was built in 1396, which tests on the roof structure showed. When the basement was lowered in 1994, it was discovered that the structure had a predecessor that was around eighty years older. Rosenstrasse 18 was rebuilt around 1550 and after 1617/1618. On the first floor there is a stucco ceiling from the 18th century, a door from the 17th century and several wall paintings from the late Middle Ages . This suggests that the building was inhabited by wealthy people.
