geography

River course

The river arises west of the Tarlton Range in the north of the Simpson Desert at the confluence of the Marshall River and Arthur Creek . It flows to the southeast and for most of the time it seeps into the eastern part of the Simpson Desert after about 240 kilometers.

In particularly wet years, it crosses the border into Queensland , crosses the Simpson Desert National Park and flows into Eyre Creek near the ghost town of Annandale  - an additional stretch of around 110 kilometers.
