Heather Monro

Heather Monro (born September 4, 1971 ) is a former British orienteer .

In 1997 Monro was second in the overall standings of the Park World Tour behind Gunilla Svärd from Sweden . At the World Championships in Scotland in 1999, the British women's relay with Kim Buckley , Jenny James and Yvette Baker missed the bronze medal by six seconds. Over the long distance, Monro was eighth in her fourth world championship and was among the top ten for the first time. In 2000 she was third in the overall World Cup. At the European Championships in Truskavets, Ukraine in the same year she won the bronze medal with Jenny James and Yvette Baker. She finished fifth on the short distance. At the European Championships in Sümeg in 2002 , she was fourth in the sprint behind the Swiss Vroni König-Salmi and the Norwegians Elisabeth Ingvaldsen and Anne Margrethe Hausken . She finished fifth on the long distance. At the World Games in Duisburg in July 2005 , Monro came third in the middle distance race behind Simone Niggli-Luder from Switzerland and Karin Schmalfeld from Germany. In August 2005 she won another bronze medal in the sprint behind Simone Niggli-Luder and Anne Margrethe Hausken at her last participation in the World Championship in Aichi, Japan .

In 2003 she won the Swedish multi-day O-rings . The British championship won Monro in the sprint in 2005, on the middle distance 2000, 2002 and 2005, on the long distance in 1993, 2000, 2002 and 2006 and on the night in 1993 and 1994. Monro was running for the clubs South London Orienteers and Halden SK , with the she won the Tiomila in 2002 .
