Heavy Petting Zoo is the sixth studio album by the band NOFX . It was released on January 31, 1996 on Epitaph Records .

history

Heavy Petting Zoo was recorded in San Francisco in October 1995 at Razors Edge Studios and produced by Ryan Greene and NOFX themselves. The musical direction of punk in Drublic was retained, punchy guitars and melodic, fast punk rock with occasional influences of ska punk . The cover shows an offensive scene of a man who has his hand on the abdomen of a sheep and to which the album title alludes, a play on words with "heavy petting " and a "petting zoo". A vinyl 12 "version of the album shows the man with the sheep at sixty-nine , with the deviating title Eating Lamb . This was confiscated in Germany after a court order.

criticism

The album received 3 out of 5 stars on the Allmusic site . The critic wrote that the album was hardly conquering new ground: "Some of the songs are standouts, but most of the album blends together." ("Some songs stand out, but for a long time the pieces blend together.")
