I Heard They Suck Live !! is the first live album by the US punk rock band NOFX . It was released in 1995 via Fat Wreck Chords .

Origin and background

According to the liner notes written by the singer Fat Mike (real name Mike Burkett), the band decided to release an official live album because of the large number of live bootlegs . The distributors of these bad-sounding bootlegs would make a lot of money, according to Fat Mike. From January 7 to 9, 1995, the band played three concerts at The Roxy Club and rented a mobile recording studio for $ 3,000 . In the liner notes, Fat Mike wrote that the exact location of the recording remains unclear, as the owners demanded money for naming the name. In chapter 87 of the NOFX autobiography The Hepatitis Bathtub , Fat Mike writes that the club's owners were charging $ 1,500 if the live album's cover should have the name of the music club The Roxy . The recordings from the first concert were discarded because the musicians were too drunk that evening. Recordings from the second and third concerts were ultimately used for the album. I Heard They Suck Live !! was recorded and mixed . by Ryan Green, while Eddie Schreyer did the mastering . Nothing But a Nightmare (Sorta) is a failed cover version of a rudimentary peni song, according to Fat Mike .

Joachim Hiller from Ox-Fanzine praised the perfect sound and the representative selection of songs. Stephen Thomas Erlewine from Allmusic, however, said that this album was only necessary for loyal NOFX fans.
