About the name

Toby Wilkinson is unsure about the reading of the name and simply calls him King A , while Jochem Kahl also does not want to commit himself and calls him "King Trio" because of the three identical characters in Serech . Edwin van den Brink associates the name of the imprisoned ruler, who is depicted on the front of the Narmer palette , with the symbol M8 for “Scha” (in transcription : š3 ) in the Gardiner list . However, Wolfgang Helck thinks he can recognize other hieroglyphs and transliterates the name as “wash” ( W3š ). Ludwig D. Morenz reads two club signs and a spear in the middle and interprets the entire arrangement (falcon + serech + three signs) as a pure, pictorial display of royal power.
