Hedvig Mollestad Thomassen (born February 4, 1982 in Ålesund ) is a Norwegian fusion musician (guitar, vocals, composition, also organ), who leads her own trio and has worked with Jon Eberson and Jarle Bernhoft .

Live and act

Mollestad, who comes from a musical family, initially played the acoustic guitar. Because she was interested in rock music and jazz , she received an electric guitar for confirmation . She graduated from the Norges Musikkhøgskole Oslo with a jazz degree. She initially worked with groups such as Bronco Busters, Sweet Potatoes, Vom and her Thomassen Trio. As a guest musician, she recorded with the cumshots .

The Hedvig Mollestad Trio, which the guitarist and singer founded with bassist Ellen Brekken and drummer Ivar Loe Bjørnstad in 2009, is quite successful in Norway and operates between a psychedelic - stoner rock and guitar-heavy free jazz . After its inception, the trio not only performed in Norway, but also toured Europe, Malaysia, Japan and the USA. His albums, which have been released since 2011, as well as the appearances, have received some critical praise. She also played in the groups of Jon Eberson and Hilde Marie Kjersem; she has released two albums with the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra . With the Jarle Bernhoft Band, with whom she recorded the album 1: Man 2: Band , she performed at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival in 2011 .

In 2009 Mollestad received the jazz talent prize as young jazz talent of the year at the Moldejazz Festival .
