Heike Elisabeth Youngest

Heike Elisabeth Jüngst (born March 21, 1967 in Mainz ) is a German translation scholar . She teaches as a university professor at the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (FHWS). Her research areas are audiovisual translation, terminology teaching and experimental translation research.

Live and act

After studying to be a qualified translator for English and Russian from 1985 to 1990 at the FASK (now FTSK) of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Germersheim, she recently worked for a year as a foreign language assistant at the Jordanhill School and the Jordanhill College in Glasgow. She completed her doctorate in 1994, also at FASK. From 1992 to 1998 she worked as an English lecturer in adult education and at the university. This was followed by one year as a specialist lecturer (German) for engineers at the University of Cambridge . From 1999 to 2002 she then took on teaching positions at FASK Germersheim and at the University of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt am Main , u. a. on the subject of gender-specific communication. From 2002 to 2008 she was a research assistant at the Institute for Applied Linguistics and Translatology (IALT) at the University of Leipzig . There she completed her habilitation in 2007 in the field of "Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies (English)". Recently, he has been teaching English translation at the University of Applied Sciences in Würzburg-Schweinfurt and is chair of the examination committee. In addition to her university work, she is a freelance translator, subtitler, reviewer for children's non-fiction books and an interpreter. Jüngst passes on her many years of practical experience in the field of audiovisual translation (subtitling, voice-over translation, dubbing, audio description and film interpreting) in her textbook Audiovisual Translation . She is also a member of the editorial advisory board of the internet magazine trans-kom and on the board of the internet publication Image & Narrative .
