Heikki Toivanen

Heikki Toivanen (born February 5, 1948 in Helsinki , † August 25, 2006 in Turku ) was a Finnish opera singer ( bass ).

Life

Toivanen studied singing at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki until 1973 and then went to Germany , where he completed his training. 1973–74 he worked at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki, sang 1974–76 at the Wuppertal Opera House , 1976–77 at the Bielefeld City Theater and continued his career from 1977–84 at the Karlsruhe State Theater .

Its deep, powerful bass seemed especially in Wagner - Repertoire benefit. So he sang 1977-78 with the Bayreuth Festival to Fasolt in Rheingold , 1978, the Titurel in Parsifal . He appeared as a guest in the opera houses in Vienna , Munich , Paris , London , Venice , Madrid , Luxembourg , Warsaw , Santiago de Chile and São Paulo as well as several times at the Savonlinna Opera Festival .

He also developed a second international career in the concert hall. He made radio and television recordings in Finland, Germany, Italy , England , Austria and Romania .

He was married to the soprano Ingrid Haubold .
