Heiko Habermann

Heiko Habermann (born November 2, 1962 in Berlin ) is a former rower from the German Democratic Republic . In 1988 he won the Olympic bronze medal with the double scull.

Habermann rowed for SC Berlin-Grünau . In 1979 he won first Spartakiade second place in one of the age group 17/18 years. In 1980 he took part in the Junior World Championships in Hazewinkel in double fours. From 1980 he got second and third places several times at the GDR championships in double sculls and double sculls. In 1986 he finished fourth in the single at the World Rowing Championships, and the following year he also took fourth place with the quadruple. Habermann won his only GDR championship title in 1988, when the boat with the cast of Steffen Bogs , Steffen Zühlke , Heiko Habermann and Jens Köppen also qualified for the Olympics by winning the championship. At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988, the double fours reached bronze behind the boats from Italy and Norway. For winning the bronze medal, he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit. In 1989 Zühlke and Habermann took third place in the GDR championships in double sculls.

Habermann studied electrical engineering and is a vocational school teacher. In the senior sector he is still active and successful as a rower.
