description

The first chapel once belonged to the original parish of Gahma. Oßla has had its own parish since 1497, which was repealed in 1540. In 1498, instead of the chapel, the first church in the village was built, the main parts of which still exist today. In 1718 a fire destroyed large parts of the village and also the church. It was inaugurated again in 1721. In 1800 almost the whole village was destroyed again by fire; the church was also badly affected. In the following year, services could take place again , but the actual inauguration was not until 1803. The current rectangular hall church with a retracted choir tower is therefore the result of two reconstructions.

The gabled roof of the nave and the helmet of the tower, consisting of an eight-sided article with a bulbous hood consists were renewed comprising. 1864 The nave has two-storey galleries and is covered with a wooden beam ceiling. Three cast steel bells from 1922 hang in the tower . Two of the original three bronze bells had to be delivered in 1917. After the new ones were hung in the tower, the third came to Röttersdorf as a school bell .

The church furnishings from 1803 are in simple classicism . The organ with ten registers , on a manual and pedal , was built in 1805 by Johann Heinrich Schmidt and rebuilt in 1941 by Richard Voigt. In 2004 it was restored by the Vogtland organ builder Thomas Wolf. A thorough renovation of the interior of the church took place in 1966. In 1995, a lightning strike damaged the tower, which was repaired that same year.
