Oßla is a small village in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia . On July 1, 1999, the place was incorporated into the city of Wurzbach , previously it was the commissioning municipality of the administrative community of the Wurzbach region .
history
The place name is mentioned in old documents as "Oßlaw". The name is derived from the Sorbian word Osla for whetstone and means in the original Slavic form Oslow place where there are whetstones. The first written mention of Oßla is dated to 1250. In 1498, instead of a chapel, the town's first church was built . Oßla belonged to the von Watzdorf family for a while and later fell to the Counts of Reuss . Since then the place has belonged to the Reussian rule Ebersdorf , at times the lines Reuss-Lobenstein and Reuss-Ebersdorf . In 1848 the place came to the Principality of Reuss Younger Line , from 1852 to the Schleiz District Office and in 1919 to the People's State of Reuss . The place has belonged to Thuringia since 1920.
