The Heimkenberg is a 274.1 m high mountain in the district of Goettingen in Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

The Heimkenberg is located on the northern edge of the Eichsfeld between the places Gieboldehausen in the south and Hattorf am Harz in the north, about 10 kilometers south of Osterode am Harz in the western part of the Rotenberg .

The predominantly forested mountain is part of the red sandstone layer and drops steeply to the north to the Oder valley and flat to the south to the Rhumetal . The valley floor (in the glacial valley of the Oder) north of the Heimkenberg is the Klusanger . The southern foothills of the mountain are the Thiershäuser Berg (216 m) and the Hopfenberg (210 m), where there is a head hornbeam forest as a special form of the coppice forest. Various hiking trails lead over the mountain, including the Solling-Harz-Querweg , as well as a path to the beautiful view at Gieboldehausen, a vantage point over the lower area and the adjacent heights.
