Heiner Gansmann

Heiner Ganßmann (born May 22, 1944 in Darmstadt ; died April 6, 2018 in Berlin ) was a German sociologist.

Life

Ganßmann studied sociology , philosophy , economics and history at the Free University of Berlin from 1963 to 1969 and then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Sociology there until 1976. I.a. After a three-year stay as an assistant professor at the New School for Social Research , he became professor of sociology at the Free University of Berlin in 1980. In 2009 he retired.

As an author and editor (1987 to 1999) he was associated with the magazine PROKLA . Scientifically, he dealt with the relationship between economics and sociology and the topic of money.

In 2006 Ganßmann was awarded the John G. Diefenbaker Prize .
