Heinrich Bandlow (born April 14, 1855 in Tribsees , † August 25, 1933 in Greifswald ) was a German writer who wrote in High German and Low German . He is occasionally referred to as "Pomeranian Reuter" based on the successful Mecklenburg writer Fritz Reuter .

biography

Bandlow was born as the son of the master carpenter Christian Bandlow and his wife Wilhelmine, geb. King, born. He attended the city school in Tribsees and then from 1872 to 1875 the teachers' college in Franzburg . As a teacher he first worked in Richtenberg from 1875 and then from 1877 to 1907 in Tribsees. After special training in Berlin from 1907/1908, he taught as a drawing teacher in Greifswald from 1908 until his retirement in 1916 . Bandlow married in 1879 and had six children.

He visited his son Konrad († 1921) in Gützkow , who lived there for a long time and collected literature about Gützkow and wrote several articles for the Greifswalder Zeitung and "Our Pommerland" on topics related to the history of Gützkow, as well as general Pomeranian history. His manuscript and article book is in the original with a relative at the Schulzenhof in Gützkow.

As a young man, Bandlow began to write poetry, fairy tales, short stories and novels. The financial aspect was not in the background. After the first publications in newspapers in Low German, several publishers became aware of him and brought out his works. A total of 34 books have been published by him.

Bandlow's works are occasionally reprinted to the present day. The book Our City. Chats of a small town dweller was published in the 3rd edition as a field post edition in 1944 . In the anthology Pommersche Literatur published by Fritz Raeck in 1969 , Bandlow is represented with a poem and an anecdote. In 1987 a selection from his works appeared under the title Nich leigen ... and in 1998 a further selection under the title Malle Vögel from Vorpommern , both edited by Jürgen Grambow .

The birthplace of the local poet in Tribsees has been preserved.
