Heinrich Brunswig (*  December 17, 1907 ; †  2002 ) was a German university professor for high frequency technology and a pioneer of broadcast technology .

Life

Brunswig studied communications engineering and then worked for three years as assistant to Heinrich Fassbender at the Technical University of Berlin (today: Technical University of Berlin). He then went into industry and from 1935 to 1945 headed the aviation navigation department at C. Lorenz AG in Berlin . From 1949 he worked as a development engineer at Standard Elektrik Lorenz (SEL) in Stuttgart on the reconstruction of the war- torn German radio network and the establishment of the new television radio technology , where he was responsible in particular for the antenna technology . He then worked again as a development engineer for flight navigation before he was appointed professor at the Technical University of Darmstadt (today: Technical University ) in 1957, where he researched and taught in the fields of communications technology and high-frequency technology until 1973. Together with his colleague there, Professor Otto Zinke (1908–1999), he wrote the “Textbook of High Frequency Technology” in 1965, which appeared in two volumes from the second edition in 1973 and is still considered a standard text book for high frequency technology in expanded and updated editions .

He was awarded the honorary doctorate of a doctoral engineer ( Dr.-Ing. E. h. ). He was also active as a radio amateur with the callsign DL6DM for decades . From 1962 to 1968 he served as Chairman Ortsverband (OVV) the amateur radio - Ortsverband Darmstadt (OV Fo3). Even after his time at the TH Darmstadt, he remained closely connected to high-frequency technology. So he was an active radio amateur until the year of his death and was responsible for the placement of QSL cards in his local association .
