Heinrich Ernst Siegrist

Heinrich Ernst Siegrist (born November 19, 1903 in Bergheim / Ruhr; died April 28, 1970 in Schönau near Gotha ) was a German miner and writer .

Life

Heinrich Ernst Siegrist was the son of a worker. After attending elementary and middle school, he learned the trade of a businessman. After his apprenticeship, he worked in mines and rolling mills . In 1925 he joined the KPD . After the seizure of power in 1933 he lived in East Friesland and Oldenburg in resistance to the Nazi regime. In 1940 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht as a soldier . During the Second World War he deserted to the Red Army . From 1945 to 1953 he worked as a cultural functionary in Mecklenburg . From 1953 he lived as a freelance writer in Berlin and Cottbus . He was deputy chairman of the GDR Writers' Association in the Cottbus district . 1959 and 1964 Siegrist was an active participant in the Bitterfeld conferences . He was a chronicler of the Black Pump Combine . Siegrist put obstacles in the way of the young author Brigitte Reimann : "In addition, in July 1960 he had quoted Heinrich Ernst Siegrist, who had defamed BR several times in the association and among officials, for a discussion on the board of the DSV." From 1961 he lived in Schönau at Gotha. Heinrich Ernst Siegrist died there on April 28 or 29, 1970. The German Writers' Association, Thuringia Working Group, paid tribute to him in an obituary.
