Heinrich Griessbach

Heinrich Grießbach (born March 27, 1891 in Hof an der Saale ; † January 7, 1973 in Munich ) was a German Protestant theologian, pastor and dean.

After passing the Abitur in Erlangen , Grießbach studied theology in Erlangen and Leipzig , took part in the First World War as a war volunteer and passed the two theological exams. He became vicar of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria and in 1921 took over the pastoral position in Michelrieth . From 1929 to 1934 he was a youth pastor at the Young Men’s Association in Nuremberg . He was also a teacher of religion, but after 1933 his teaching license was withdrawn. In 1937 he moved as pastor from St. Johannis in Ansbach to St. Matthäus in Munich.

In the Second World War , Grießbach was a war pastor, most recently with a second location in Paris . After the war he returned to Munich's Matthäuskirche and headed the parish office in Munich-Pasing . From 1948 until his retirement in 1959 he was dean in the then newly established church district of Passau . He was also a councilor and a member of the regional synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria. From 1960 to 1965 he represented the religious communities in the Bavarian Senate .
