Heinrich Heydemann (politician)

Heinrich Viktor Heydemann (born January 2, 1881 in Güstrow , † April 5, 1973 in Rostock ) was a German lawyer and politician . He was mayor in Güstrow, member of the state parliament of the Free State of Mecklenburg-Schwerin and briefly mayor of Rostock.

Life

Heinrich Heydemann was born in 1881 as the son of District Court Councilor Karl Heydemann . His brothers were the politicians Ernst Heydemann and Carl Heydemann , who were later mayors in Rostock and Stralsund, respectively.

Heydemann first attended school in Güstrow and then in Rostock, after the family moved there in 1900. Heydemann completed a law degree and received his doctorate ; he attended the universities of Heidelberg , Berlin and Munich and was matriculated at the University of Rostock .

Heydemann was police senator in Güstrow in 1911. From 1919 to 1935 he was mayor of Güstrow. At the same time he was a member of the state parliament of the Free State of Mecklenburg-Schwerin for the German National People's Party (DNVP) from 1926 to 1932 , most recently as a member of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Nationaler Mecklenburg -Schwerin (ANM). After his ouster as mayor Heydemann was 1935 Counsel at the Rostock brewery Mahn & Ohlerich .

In May and June 1945 he served as Lord Mayor of Rostock. After that, in July and August 1945, he headed the finance department of the state administration as ministerial director. On August 10, 1945, Heydemann was arrested by the NKVD , allegedly because of unapproved lending. However, after 81 days of detention, he was released because there was nothing against him, according to the SMA . After his release from prison he became head of the legal office at the City Council of Rostock. In March 1947 he was arrested again, as a result of which he was dismissed from civil service. Heydemann then worked as a lawyer until 1949 .
