Heinrich Horst (Bishop)

Heinrich Horst MAfr (born May 29, 1902 in Kirchlinde ; † September 17, 1946 ) was a German Roman Catholic religious and apostolic vicar of Lwangwa in Rhodesia .

Life

Heinrichshorst joined the religious order of the White Fathers in and received on 5 April 1930, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope Pius XI appointed him on May 21, 1938 titular Bishop of Hermonthis and first Vicar Apostolic of Lwangwa. The Vicar Apostolic of Bangueolo , Alexandre-Auguste-Laurent-Marie Roy MAfr, donated him episcopal ordination on August 14th of the same year . Co-consecrator was the Vicar Apostolic of Tanganyika , Jan van Sambeek MAfr. The Apostolic Prefect of Tukuyu , Ludwig Haag MAfr, acted as assistant presbyter .

Horst died at the age of only 44. His tomb is in the former cathedral of the Mpika diocese in Ilondola.
