from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Henry III. von Münsterberg-Oels (also: Heinrich III. von Podiebrad , Heinrich III. von Bernstadt , Czech: Jindřich III. Minstrbersko-Olešnický ; born April 29, 1542 in Oels ; † April 10, 1587 ibid) was Duke of Münsterberg and 1565– 1574 Duke of Bernstadt . He also carried the title of Count von Glatz .

Life

Henry III. came from the Münsterberger family branch of the Bohemian noble family Podiebrad . His parents were Heinrich II. Von Münsterberg and Oels and Margarethe (1515–1559), daughter of Heinrich V von Mecklenburg-Schwerin . Henry III. was married to Magdalena Meseritsch von Lomnitz ( Mezeřicka z Lomnice ).

When his father died in 1548, Heinrich was only six years old, which is why he was initially under the tutelage of his uncle Johann , who from 1548 until his death in 1565 also dubbed Duke of Bernstadt . In the same year Heinrich III took over. the reign over the Duchy of Bernstadt. Due to over-indebtedness, he sold this, along with the castle and some villages, to the von Schindel family in 1574.

Henry III. died without heirs in 1587. The Duchy of Bernstadt was bought back in 1604 by Heinrich's brother Charles II .
