Heinrich Küppers (born November 10, 1939 in Heinsberg ) is a German historian .

Life

Heinrich Küppers began his career as a scientist with a dissertation on the Catholic Teachers' Association in the transition period from the Weimar Republic to the Hitler dictatorship . It was accepted by the Aachen University of Education in 1974. His doctoral supervisor was Johannes Erger . In 1983 he received his habilitation there, and after the pedagogical university had been rededicated to a pedagogical faculty of the RWTH Aachen University , with a study of the educational policy in Saarland during the period of his autonomy from 1945 to 1955 . He was awarded the license to teach Modern History.

Since 1986 Küppers has worked at the history seminar of the Bergische Universität Wuppertal . In the context of his rehabilitation in 1987, he was initially an academic advisor. He was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 1990. His appointment to the Academic Senior Council took place three years later.

Küppers has been retired since 2005. He is a full member of the Brauweiler Circle for Regional and Contemporary History , the Society for Rhenish History and the Franco-German Historical Committee. His work and research focus is on the western European history of the 19th and 20th centuries and the Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland history of the 20th century.
