Heinrich Klebahn

Heinrich Klebahn (born February 20, 1859 in Bremen , † October 5, 1942 in Hamburg ) was a German mycologist and botanist . He was a pioneer in phytopathology .

Klebahn received his doctorate in 1884 at the University of Jena and then became a teacher in Bremen (1885–1894) and Hamburg (1894–1899). Then he worked as a scientific assistant for the Hamburg Botanical Garden . From 1905 to 1930 he worked at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Agriculture in Bromberg , which existed in Landsberg (Warthe) from 1920 . It served the growing interests of eastern agriculture in Prussia . Klebahn dealt intensively with plant diseases and pests, e.g. B. of celery . From 1921 to 1934 he was an honorary professor at the Institute for General Botany at the Hanseatic University of Hamburg . In 1927 he received the Silver Leibniz Medal . In November 1933 he signed the German professors' confession of Adolf Hitler .
