Walburga Gmür

Ida Marianne Walburga Gmür (born April 23, 1902 in Weimar , † December 9, 1974 in Zurich ) was a Swiss actress .

Career

Walburga Gmür was the daughter of the St. Gallen painter, singer and actor Rudolf Gmür (1857–1921). Walburga made her debut as a stage actress at Elisabeth Bergner's side and was a. a. under contract with Erwin Piscator . Guest tours have taken her to Germany, the Balkans and the Soviet Union . Having become unemployed due to the difficult political situation in Germany, she went to Switzerland.

She continued her theater career there with guest performances at the Schauspielhaus Zurich , the Stadttheater Luzern and the Bernhard Theater in Zurich, as well as with other guest tours. Films in Swiss dialect films followed. It was mostly cast in small and supporting roles. The engagement at the Landestheater Darmstadt and at the Städtische Bühnen Dortmund led to the return to Germany.

Walburga Gmür had been Max Haufler's partner from 1935 , whom she married in 1951. The marriage lasted until 1964.
