Heinrich Machens

Heinrich Machens (born January 25, 1919 in Hildesheim ; † February 17, 2001 ) was auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Hildesheim .

Life

Heinrich Machens was drafted into military service as a theology student in 1939 and released from Canadian captivity in 1946. He was ordained a priest on March 13, 1949 . He became a chaplain and religion teacher and in 1959 diocesan youth pastor . From 1962 he was pastor and later dean in Holzminden . At the suggestion of the bishop, Pope Paul VI appointed him . on March 24, 1976 as auxiliary bishop in Hildesheim and titular bishop of Bida . The Bishop of Hildesheim , Heinrich Maria Janssen , donated him episcopal ordination on June 7th of the same year ; Co-consecrators were Heinrich Pachowiak , auxiliary bishop in Hildesheim, and Hubertus Brandenburg , auxiliary bishop in Osnabrück .

Bishop Janssen appointed Machens Episcopal Vicar on July 21, 1976 and gave him a. a. the responsibility for the parish catechesis and for the preparation and accompaniment of the permanent deacons , the parish officers and the communion helpers and lecturers .

On February 11, 1994, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
