List of the bishops of Hildesheim

The oldest evidence of the history of the Hildesheim diocese is in the form of an unprinted list of bishops, which was handed down in the sacramentary of 1014. There are probably older, but no longer preserved, lists of bishops. In the list, which is preserved in the sacramentary of 1014, the first thirteen bishops from Gunthar to Bernward are briefly listed , but without counting, for the period from 815 to 1014 and from two later successive scribes up to Bishop Udo (1079 to 1114) added.
