Henning vom Haus (also: von Hus , de domo ) († April 14 or 15, 1488 ) was Bishop of Hildesheim from 1471 to 1481 .

Henning came from the Lower Saxon noble family v. House . Towards the end of his term of office he modified his bishop's coat of arms in such a way that it integrated the Bernward cross . In 1441 he studied in Erfurt. After the death of Ernst I, Count von Schauenburg, he was elected bishop of Hildesheim Cathedral on Michaelmas Day 1471 by the minority of the canons, but had to prevail against two opposing bishops.

The majority of the chapter headed by Provost Eckhard von Wenden was postulated by Hermann, Landgrave of Hesse . When Henning returned from Rome from his papal confirmation, the pen was taken by his opponents. Only the citizens of Hildesheim were devoted to him and besieged Hermann in Steuerwald Castle until he resigned. His cousin, the Bishop of Verden Berthold II. Von Landsberg , hurried over and consecrated and enthroned Henning on April 14, 1472. Hermann's followers now postulated Balthasar, Duke of Mecklenburg , as the next opposing bishop , who was unable to take Steuerwald Castle and again in 1474 withdrew. After three years of fighting, Henning was unchallenged in his office. Among other things, he granted the citizens of Hildesheim freedom from customs duties in the monastery.

When the dukes Wilhelm and Friedrich tried to conquer Koldingen in 1474 , the Hildesheim citizens were able to repel this attack. Peace was made on December 2, 1475. In the same year the Alfeld people who had killed the bishop's bailiff had to be punished. There is also a report on his visit to the Neuwerkkloster Goslar .

In 1476, after a general peace had been concluded, another feud broke out with Duke Friedrich. After episcopal attacks, Duke Wilhelm the Younger broke with him and Henning resigned from his office as bishop in 1481. He and the city campaigned for the Pope to ensure that his cousin Berthold II would become bishop. Henning received the Marienburg as a residence. He was buried in front of the sacristy in Hildesheim Cathedral .
