Heinrich Olschowsky

Heinrich Olschowsky (born November 16, 1939 in Nakel ) is professor emeritus for polonics at the Humboldt University in Berlin .

Olschowsky studied Slavic and German at the universities in Greifswald and Berlin . In 1965 he successfully completed his studies . He then worked as a research assistant at the Academy of Sciences and did his doctorate on the poetic work of Tadeusz Różewicz . In 1979 he completed his habilitation with the monograph “Poetry in Poland. Structures and Traditions in the 20th Century ”.

In 1988 he was appointed to the Chair of Polish Studies at the Institute for Slavonic Studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin and retired in 2005.

In 1990 Heinrich Olschowsky gave the laudation for Karl Dedecius at the award of the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade . He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the German-Polish Society .
