Heinrich Palmaz von Leveling , from 1790 Heinrich Palmaz Ritter von Leveling , also Heinrich Palmatius von Leveling (born September 28, 1742 in Trier , † July 9, 1798 in Munich ) was a German physician.

Life

Von Leveling was the son of a professor of medicine. He studied medicine in Trier and at the University of Strasbourg and received his doctorate there in 1764 with a thesis on anatomy . He then practiced as a doctor in various places before he was appointed professor of anatomy and surgery at the University of Ingolstadt in 1771 . He taught there, among other things, in ancient anatomy . In 1773 he was elected a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina . In the same year he became a full member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences . In 1790 he was raised to the nobility. He published numerous papers on anatomy, surgery and the history of medicine.
