Heinrich Peters (banker)

Heinrich Peters (born October 24, 1879 in Springe ; † August 12, 1963 there ) was a German banker , banker , entrepreneur and patron .

Life

Heinrich Peters was born in 1879 as the son of the Mayor of Springer Georg Peters during the founding of the German Empire . After attending school, he completed a bank apprenticeship in Hildesheim . He then worked in Weimar , where he founded the Thuringian Treuhandgesellschaft mbH .

After the First World War , Peters established a foundation in his hometown of Springe in 1918 .

In the post-war period, Peters transferred securities from Weimar, at the time located in the GDR , to West Berlin . For this he was sentenced to imprisonment by the Erfurt Regional Court in 1952 .

In 1956 Peters left the GDR and returned to Springe. With his will he initiated the establishment of a new foundation, which became effective as the Heinrich Peters Foundation after his death in 1967 .
