from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich Wilhelm Rocholl (born September 20, 1845 in Elberfeld , † February 28, 1929 in Bonn ) was an Evangelical Lutheran military pastor and consistorial councilor with the title Dr. phil.

Life

Heinrich Rocholl served as a military pastor in the cities of Colmar , Cologne and Hanover , at the time of the German Empire in the Royal Prussian X Army Corps .

The military chaplaincy was a thoroughly nationalistic institution in the empire . This is how Heinrich Rocholl, the chief military pastor in Hanover, described the laying of the foundation stone of the garrison church on April 5, 1892:

“Here the German soldier is supposed to swear oath of the flag, the man's word of loyalty to death for our dear emperor and king; here the ardor of love for the fatherland should seize him, to live and die for the honor and salvation of the German people; here the enthusiasm should overcome him never to tire of working on the goods and gifts of peace in the field of national welfare, freedom and morality. "

Only a few months before the First World War , the meanwhile secret consistorial councilor was appointed “Dr. Rocholl ”, until then military pastor of the X Army Corps in Hanover, retired with a pension at his own request. The writings he wrote during the war form part of the World War II collection of the German National Library .
