Heinrich Rubenow († 1419 ) was the mayor of Greifswald .

Life

Heinrich Rubenow (II.) Was a son of the Greifswald mayor Everhard Rubenow . He was a councilor from 1383. In 1389 he became chamberlain and provisional officer of the Heiliggeist Hospital. From 1395 he was mayor and represented the city at the Hanseatic Days . During his tenure, Greifswald renewed the alliance for mutual protection against muggers with the cities of Stralsund , Anklam and Demmin in 1399 . In 1403 the city allied itself with Stralsund, Lübeck, Hamburg, Rostock and Wismar against Balthasar von Werle (Wenden) and their sovereign Barnim VI. who supported the vitality brothers . When in 1412 armed citizens of Greifswald attacked vassals of Duke Wartislaw VIII of Pomerania-Wolgast in order to secure the roads , a dispute with the Duke broke out, which could not be settled until 1415.

In addition to extensive other real estate, Heinrich Rubenow acquired a large house on the corner of Brüggstrasse and Schuhhagen from Margarete Letzenitz, widow of Councilor Dietrich Dersekow, on May 15, 1394, which the family owned until 1508.

He was married to Barbara von Soest, the daughter of the Stralsund mayor Arnold von Soest († 1409), whose great fortune passed to him. With her he had two daughters and five sons, of whom Arnold (1419–1430), Johannes (1430–1438) and Heinrich (1442–1447) belonged to the Greifswald city council.
