Heinrich Seitz von Treffen

Heinrich Seitz-Treffen (born May 15, 1870 in Cilli , † May 16, 1940 in Graz ) was a rear admiral in the Austro-Hungarian Navy . As a Slovene , he was named Sajiz until 1901, and from 1901 he was a Seitz meeting .

Live and act

In 1888 he joined the Austro-Hungarian Navy and began studying at the Naval Academy in Fiume (Rijeka). In 1898 he became lieutenant of the line, first class. As part of this function, he took part in the 1900/01 expedition to put down the Boxer Rebellion in China . Further career stations followed: From 1903 to 1904 he served in the naval registry office . This was followed by some nautical uses. In 1909 he was promoted to corvette captain and in 1912 to frigate captain. This was followed by the use as a commander on the SMS Alpha in 1913. In 1913 he was promoted to captain of the liner and commanded the rapid cruiser SMS Helgoland at the same time he was in command of the I. torpedo flotilla in Sebenico (Šibenik) . In 1915 he became known for attempting to break through the Otranto barrier . In 1917 he became the commander of the SMS Wien liner . Further positions followed from February 1918. So he became commander of the 1st heavy ship division and in a double function also commander of the kuk battleship Szent István . Shortly afterwards he was appointed as deputy to Admiral Miklós Horthy . Seitz-Treffen was promoted to Rear Admiral in 1918 .

After the end of World War I and the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian fleet, he studied from 1921 to 1923 law at the University of Graz and graduated in 1924 graduated with a doctorate to Dr. jur. from.

In 1927, Seitz-Treffen joined the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) and from 1928 was a member of the Gauleitung Styria . From 1931 to 1933 he was NSDAP Gaurichter and briefly Deputy Gauleiter .

Seitz-Treffen died one day after his 70th birthday in the regional hospital in Graz . He was buried in the St. Leonhard Cemetery in the presence of Tobias Portschy (1905–1996), Deputy Gauleiter of Styria, and Gauhauptmann Armin Dadieu (1901–1978).
