Heinrich Tammann

Heinrich Johann Gustav Linus Alexander Tammann (born November 16 . Jul / 28. November  1894 greg. In Tartu , Estonia ; † 16th March 1946 in Hannover , Lower Saxony ) was a Baltic German physician and university lecturer .

Life

The son of the chemist Gustav Tammann (1861-1938) was awarded in 1922 the approbation as a doctor and became 1923 in Goettingen to the Dr. med. PhD . His dissertation was entitled “On the Influence of X-Rays on Fractures” (Göttingen 1922).

From 1924 to 1933 he worked as an assistant, most recently as a senior physician at the Surgical University Clinic in Göttingen . In 1928 he became a private lecturer in surgery and in 1933 an associate professor .

In 1933 he moved to become a senior physician in the surgical department of the Friederikenstift Hannover . In 1938, Tammann was given a teaching position for aviation medicine at the Technical University of Hanover , where he became an adjunct professor in 1940 .

During the Second World War , Tammann was a general doctor of the reserve in the Air Force .

His son Gustav Andreas Tammann (1932–2019) was an astronomer.
