Heinrich Teuber (born February 23, 1872 in Peterwitz , Frankenstein district in Silesia, †  September 1, 1927 in Leipzig ) was a German politician (SPD, USPD, KPD).

Live and act

Teubner attended elementary school . He then earned his living as a brick maker, earthworker, miner and reporter. In 1906 he became a functionary of the free trade union " Old Association ". In 1910 Teuber became a union leader. As a young man he joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). During the First World War , he moved to the Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany (USPD) in 1917. In 1920 he became a member of the VKPD . He was eventually excluded from this together with Malzahn and Brass. He then went back to the USPD and returned to the SPD in 1922.

In June 1920 Teuber entered the Reichstag as a USPD candidate for constituency 20 (Westphalia-South) , to which he subsequently belonged until May 1924 as a member of parliament with changing parliamentary groups. He was also a substitute editor of the Leipziger Volkszeitung . From 1926 to 1927 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Westphalia for the constituency of Bochum-Stadt.

In February 1927 Teuber took over the chairmanship of the SPD local association Groß-Bochum together with Karl Garbe . In addition, both sat on the board of the SPD subdistrict Bochum-Gelsenkirchen (to which Wattenscheid, Witten, Hattingen and Herne also belonged). In the same year, a party expulsion process was initiated against Teuber, which may have been the reason for his suicide in Leipzig.

Teuber's friend Paul Levi dedicated the words to the deceased: “Perhaps there will also come a time that not only counts and evaluates the victims, who not only gave their lives for the cause of the proletariat, but no longer considered it worth living where they did not see more how you serve in the future.
