Henry V of the Neersen (* before 1382, † 1438) was a niederrhein ischer Knight , from 1402 Mr. of Holzbüttgen , and from 1414 Erbvogt of Neersen , Anrath and Uerdingen . In contrast to his father, he is also called Heinrich the young or Heinrich von Neersen zu Holzbüttgen .

Life

He was the son of Heinrich IV. ( The old man ), hereditary bailiff of Neersen, Anrath and Uerdingen, and his first wife Aleidis (also Adelheid) von Holzbüttgen, the daughter of Johann von Holzbüttgen († before 1379), Elector of Cologne bailiff of Oedt and Kempen .

In 1397 he participated as a squire of the knight Wilhelm von Hochsteden together with this on the side of Duke Wilhelm II. Von Berg in the battle of Kleverhamm against Duke Adolf II. Von Kleve . Both were taken prisoner by Klev.

When his father married his second wife Agnes von Hoemen in 1397, he renounced the paternal bailiwick of Uerdingen in her favor. In return he was promised the Holzbüttgen house, a castle in the Electorate of Cologne, which Aleidis von Holzbüttgen had brought into the marriage. 1402 he was appointed by kurkölner Archbishop with the house Holzbüttgen and related lands mortgaged . In 1405 he renounced the castle and bailiwick of Neersen including Anrath in favor of his father and his stepmother, which after their death a possible son from this second marriage should inherit preferentially.

When his father died around 1414, his second marriage had not resulted in any sons, but only two daughters, Kunigunde and Aleidis. Therefore he now inherited his father's castle Neersen , as well as the bailiwicks Neersen, Anrath and Uerdingen.

In 1419 he pledged the Holzbüttgen house to the Neuss women's abbey, his son Heinrich VI. he finally sold it in 1485.

In 1422, together with his sons Heinrich (VI.) And Johann, he transferred a house to the St. Sebastianus Brotherhood in Neuss in Niederstrasse in Neuss.

In 1428 he sold the Pupperburg, a fortified estate on the Bökel near the Gibbermühle near Neersen, which belonged to his lands .

He died in 1439 at the latest, in that year his widow Jutta von Hüls married Johann von Hoemen, bailiff von Linn , who temporarily took over the administration of the Bailiwick of Uerdingen , possibly as guardian of Heinrich's heir, Heinrich VI.
