Heinrich Vogel (philosopher)

Heinrich Vogel (born September 11, 1932 in Cvikov (German: Zwickau in Böhmen ), Okres Česká Lípa , † November 14, 1977 in Rostock ) was a German Marxist philosopher .

Life

After graduating from high school in Bad Langensalza in Thuringia , Heinrich Vogel studied journalism and Marxism-Leninism at the University of Leipzig from 1951 to 1955 with Wilhelm Eildermann , Ernst Bloch and Hans Mayer . He was then a research assistant until 1958 and then senior assistant at the University of Rostock . Vogel received his doctorate in 1959 at the University of Greifswald with the work Max Planck's criticism of the fundamental philosophical conceptions of positivism . The habilitation took place in 1966 also at the University of Greifswald with the thesis on the philosophical work of Max Born . Between 1959 and 1972 Vogel was a lecturer at the University of Rostock and since 1972 a full professor for dialectical and historical materialism .

With his work on philosophical problems in the natural sciences, Vogel is one of the pioneers in this field in the GDR.
