Life

Seusslitz Castle, built for Heinrich von Bünau after 1722

He came from the Saxon noble family Bünau and was the son of Rudolf von Bünau on Unterau and Görnitz (1613–1673). Heinrich von Bünau entered the civil service, in which some of his ancestors were already active.

His sister Christiane Wilhelmine von Bünau (1666–1707) had been the wife of Duke Johann Adolf I of Saxony-Weissenfels since 1692 . Heinrich von Bünau married Juliane Dorothea von Geismar (1676–1745) on June 28, 1693, daughter of Hans Dietrich von Geismar on Gleina . Their son was Heinrich von Bünau (1697–1762).

In 1722 he acquired Seusslitz , where he had the Baroque Seusslitz Castle built by George Bähr . In 1725 he bought Radewitz as well.

On March 24, 1742, he was together with his son Heinrich Freiherr von Bünau by Emperor Charles VII. In the imperial counts charged. He died in Seusslitz Castle.

Confusion of the name bearers

Due to a family law of the Bünau family, which was already in force in the 12th century, only the first names Günther, Heinrich or Rudolph were allowed to be used for male descendants. There are therefore numerous people with the name Heinrich von Bünau within the widely ramified clan . In the history of science to date, this has not infrequently led to incorrect assignments of persons. In the history of Saxony, Heinrich von Bünau was often mistaken for his son of the same name .
