Heinrich von Ellerbach († November 20 or November 21, 1408 ) was the last provost of the collegiate monastery in Buxheim near Memmingen .

Heinrich von Ellerbach came from the Swabian ministerial family of the Lords of Ellerbach . At the latest since 1371 he was canon in Augsburg , where his uncle Burkhard von Ellerbach was canon from 1355 and bishop from 1373 .

His uncle appointed him provost of the Buxheim monastery, which had belonged to the Augsburg cathedral chapter since around 1100 and served to support the Augsburg cathedral clergy . At the beginning of the 15th century the monastery was in a serious crisis. Although Heinrich von Ellerbach had acquired the bailiwick and the lower jurisdiction over his basic subjects in Buxheim in 1399 , the economic situation was extremely bad. Spiritual discipline was no better: Of the only four canons left , only one lived in the monastery. Since there was no prospect of improvement, Ellerbach obtained the approval of the monastery chapter, cathedral chapter and bishop in 1402 to give up the completely impoverished monastery and to donate it together with the local parish of Buxheim to the Carthusian order. After he had obtained a letter of protection from the imperial city of Memmingen for the new Charterhouse the next year , six Carthusians from Christgarten near Nördlingen moved in the same year . In 1408 the new Charterhouse Maria Saal (Aula Mariae) was finally incorporated into the order.

Heinrich von Ellerbach was buried in the Augsburg cathedral cloister in 1408 . His tombstone and epitaph are preserved there.
