Heinrich († 1303 in Marienwerder ) was a priest of the Teutonic Order and Bishop of Pomesania .

Life

The priest of the Teutonic Order was Dr. decr. and possibly identical to that Teutonic order priest Heinrich “de spinis”, whom Pope Clemens IV commissioned in 1265 with the crusade sermon for the battles of the order in Livonia , Courland and Prussia . In 1269/70 he was at the side of the Landkomtur of the Order of Bohemia and Moravia and in 1282 was himself Komtur of the Teutonic Order House of Opava. Since 1283 he has been a confidante of the Prussian Landmeister Konrad the Elder. J. von Thierberg (1283–1288) testifies, at whose instigation the Pomesan cathedral chapter probably elected him bishop after the death of Bishop Albert (mid-1286). The confirmation by the Riga archbishop Johann von Vechta took place on December 31, 1286, the consecration by Bishop Werner von Kulm at the latest in February 1287. Even after he took possession of the diocese, Heinrich, who was appointed against the absent Albert in 1277/78, continued to act as bishop. In March 1287 he took part in a synod in Würzburg with other bishops from Germany, West Pomerania, Prussia and Livonia , where he granted various indulgences with them.

In June 1287 he was back in his diocese, where he added a bull from Pope Innocent IV (1250) for the Cistercian Abbey of Oliva to the effect that it should be forbidden to cite the monastery before courts that were more than two days' journey away. There is no evidence for an activity outside his diocese. He only appears there as a witness or in documents that others have issued. For example in Braunsberg (Braniewo) in 1288 in a dispute between the Warmia bishop Heinrich Fleming and his chapter, in 1299 in border disputes between the Abbey of Oliva and the city of Danzig, in 1300 with the provost of his chapter and later Bishop Christian in the resignation of the lords of the village of Subkowo in favor of the Bishop of Leslau (Wloclawek) Wieslaw (1284–1300) and in 1302 in the confirmation of a document from the Samland bishop Siegfried von Regenstein concerning the furnishing of the St. Albert Cathedral in Königsberg .

In 1294 he redefined the boundary between the monastery area and the order portion of the diocese with the Prussian Landmeister Meinhard von Querfurt (1288-1299). Within his own territory, he loaned a number of estates to new owners. Some new settlements took place in the Riesenburg area. Heinrich and his chapter also tried to expand the still sparsely populated Vistula valley. He probably found his grave in the parish church of Marienwerder.
