Heinz Chen

Heinz Chen (* 1983 in Vienna ) is an Austrian - Taiwanese pianist and teacher .

Life

Heinz Chen studied piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Wolfgang Watzinger, at the Sibelius Academy with Erik T. Tawaststjerna and at the Detmold University of Music with Anatol Ugorski . Already during his student days he was involved in his father's hometown in Beigang , Taiwan , as a musician and teacher and organized courses and concerts. In 2006 he took over the Beigang Music Festival and expanded it as artistic director to become the Beigang International Music Festival . In addition to his managerial role, he performed there as a pianist and répétiteur for wind instruments. In 2007 he traveled to Taiwan for the festival together with the rector of the Detmold University of Music, Martin Christian Vogel . In 2009 he expanded the festival from music for wood and brass instruments to include singing. In addition to artistic events, the conception of the festival was closely linked to intercultural activities, which Heinz Chen implemented based on experiences from the European Youth Parliament , of which he was an Austrian delegate at the meetings in Weimar and Hämeenlinna in 1999 .

His pianistic career was awarded the Bösendorfer scholarship in 2002 , first prize in the Helmi-Vesa piano competition in Helsinki in 2006 and the special prize for his stage charm at the international piano competition in Santorini in 2008 . With the Austrian violinist Roland Hölzl, he recorded a CD with works by Fritz Kreisler for HypoVereinsbank Tirol . His concert activities with the soprano Anna Krauja were documented by the Latvian radio . Krauja and Chen are now married.

From August 2010 to July 2011, Heinz Chen performed memorial service at the Jewish Museum Berlin .
