Heinz Dotter Weich

August Adolf Heinz Dotter Weich (born September 25, 1904 in Dresden ; † July 12, 1949 in Resse (Wedemark) ) was a German zoologist and professor at the Technical University of Dresden .

Life

Dotter Weich studied zoology, botany and chemistry at the University of Kiel from 1924 and received his doctorate in 1927. phil. From May 1928 he was an assistant at the TU Dresden and completed his habilitation in 1931. From 1936 to 1939 he taught general zoology at the Tharandt Forest University , was appointed associate professor in 1938 and from 1940 head of the Zoological Institute at the TU Dresden. In November 1933 he signed the professors' declaration of Adolf Hitler at German universities and colleges . He was chairman of the Nazi lecturers' association and of the teaching staff of zoologists. After the intervention of the Reichsnährstand he was released from military service in 1943 and belonged to the Reichsfachgruppe "Rabbit Breeders" to "increase angora wool production".

He published work e.g. B. via the path of the air in the bird's lungs, physiological studies on mussels and earthworms, and genetic studies on vinegar flies. During World War II , he researched angora wool as a protective agent for pilots.
