Heinz Georg Wagner (General)

Heinz Georg Wagner (born April 2, 1951 in Marburg ) is a retired German Brigadier General . D. In his last assignment in the Bundeswehr until the beginning of April 2012 he was deputy division commander and commander of the division troops in the 1st Panzer Division.

Life

After finishing school and completing a commercial apprenticeship, Wagner joined the Bundeswehr in 1971 as a temporary soldier / reserve officer candidate in Neustadt (Hesse) . The re-entry took place in January 1974. He completed his officer training in Hanover (OL I and II). Wagner served as platoon leader , S3 and S2 officer in the 11th Panzer Reconnaissance Training Battalion in Munster . From 1979 to 1982 he was company commander of the 2nd company of this battalion.

He received his general staff training from 1982 to 1984 and until 1990 the Army Staff Course in Camberley / England and assignments in the II. Corps in Ulm (as G2) and with the NATO Army Group North in Rheindahlen as G3 Plans. From 1990 to 1992 he commanded the 7th Panzer Reconnaissance Battalion in Augustdorf . Under his leadership, the battalion hosted the international military eventing competition for the Boeselager Cup in 1992.

From 1992 to 1995 he was a liaison officer at the Staff College of the British Army in Camberley. From 1995 to 2000, Wagner worked in the Federal Ministry of Defense as a G 3 operational command and head of operational planning. From 2000 to 2002 he was chief of staff of the 13th Panzer Grenadier Division and, in this position, chief of staff of the German contingent KFOR (2001-2002, six months).

From 2002 to 2004 Wagner served as a liaison officer for the Federal Ministry of Defense with the Federal President. From 2005 to 2008 he was a German defense attaché in Moscow. On February 6, 2009, Wagner began his service as deputy division commander and commander of division troops of the 1st Panzer Division in Hanover. At the end of March 31, 2012, Wagner retired, he lives in Berlin.
